At the Dingleburn, we want you to explore our unique New Zealand high country station at your own pace. There are plenty of outdoor activities ideal for people of varying age groups. Because of the area’s unique topography, you’ll have the opportunity to walk along some of the most amazing mountain trails and picnic on the shores of the lake during the summer.

All activities below are available as part of your Discover Dingleburn experience and stay.

Guided Farm Experience

Get stuck in and experience what happens on a high country station, daily. Type of activities can include high country mustering, a 4WD drive to check on the sheep and/or cattle, feeding animals, wool shed tour, watching the dogs work sheep, and more.

Walking & Tramping

With the mountains in the background, the beautiful rivers flowing through the area, and the blue lake below, enjoy the fresh air and explore our walking trails.

Fishing

River and lakeshore fishing. You’ll find rainbow trout, brown trout and landlocked chinook salmon in our rivers —a ten-minute walk from The Quarters. As part of your stay at Dingleburn Station, you’ll have access to the Hunter River, the Dingle Burn, Timaru Creek, as well as the Silver Island Lagoon.

Please note: Hunter River is only accessible in a 4WD truck. Please enquire with us prior to your arrival (additional costs will apply.)

Mountain Biking

The iconic NZ mountain biking race, the Contact Epic, passes through Dingleburn Station. Follow the 30km track or journey through the DOC cycling trails and other station tracks.

We recommend bringing your own bike(s), however bike rentals can be arranged with prior notice. E-bikes can be charged at the Quarters accommodation.
